When you have been accepted for a condition under the EEOICPA and awarded medical benefits, the EEOICPA will pay for all medical expenses for the treatment of your accepted condition. This includes an Oxygen Concentrator if prescribed oxygen therapy by your treating physician.
Oxygen therapy is a treatment that provides you with extra oxygen. Normally, your lungs absorb oxygen from the air you breathe. But, some medical conditions can prevent you from getting enough oxygen from the air on your own. Chances are your physician will prescribe you oxygen therapy if you have been diagnosed with one of the conditions below:
There are several devices used to deliver oxygen to you in your home. This includes an Oxygen Concentrator. Oxygen therapy can help you feel better and stay more active longer than without it.
Depending on your prescription for oxygen therapy and the duration of need as prescribed by your physician the EEOICPA will either pay for a monthly rental or purchase you an Oxygen Concentrator.
If you are authorized for the rental of an Oxygen Concentrator the EEOICPA will pay the monthly rental fee for the duration of your need as prescribed by your treating physician. However, if your need continues the EEOICPA will typically purchase an Oxygen Concentrator for continued use in your home.
When the EEOICPA purchases you an Oxygen Concentrator it will typically come with a three-year warranty. Your Durable Medical Equipment (DME) provider will ensure that your equipment is serviced and repaired as needed throughout its operational life.
If your EEOICPA Oxygen Concentrator warranty expires and or it cannot be repaired for less than the cost of a new Oxygen Concentrator the EEOCIPA will authorize the purchase of another Oxygen Concentrator. As a general rule, this is done once every three years. However, the EEOICPA will ensure that you have the necessary medical equipment for the treatment of your covered condition at all times, even if your equipment needs to be replaced before three years.
