A covered employee under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) may file for a new impairment rating evaluation every two years. However, a covered employee may also request a new impairment rating whenever accepted for a new covered illness or a consequential illness under Part E of the EEOICPA even if two years has not passed since your last impairment evaluation.
An impairment award is monetary compensation for the permanent loss of function of a body part or organ, due to a covered illness under the EEOICPA. For each one percent of impairment, $2,500.00 is awarded. For example: If you receive a whole body impairment rating of 10% for your covered illness then your impairment award would be $25,000.00.
